Telecommunications
When the Managing and Technical Directors (John Boyle and Kaz Librowski) founded OCC, mobile phones were the size of bricks! They have come a long way since then, and now we are all connected remotely.
We have been involved in various projects connected with telecommunications using a variety of technologies. We have developed solutions for call centre wall boards, remote working (or teleworking) for help desks and outsourcing for eWorkers:
- The software for a leading mobile telecommunications company extracted data from disparate sources and transmitted it to call centre wall boards in real-time.
We partnered Siemens for developing technology for allocating resources for teleworking.
The toolset includes:
- portal for operators
- module for management of staff and schedules
- For an eCommerce platform for outsourcing of eWorkers, we had European partners. This portal brought together professionals and companies, both parties being able to request services.
An interesting research project (REACT) we recently participated in was to identify new technological concepts to assist in the Command and Control room of the emergency services. We developed a classification system to identify how words on screen described how incidents could be related. We also developed a "Fact Finder" tool for intelligence gathering.
OCC has a long association with projects with European partners for virtual reality glasses and a home-monitoring device for people with Parkinson's disease. They include remote videoconferencing to healthcare professionals.
