Your privacy is important to OCC and we are committed to respecting information about you. We are registered under the Data Protection Act (Notification No. Z7152789) and comply with its provisions.
Personal Information
In general, you can visit OCC on the Web without telling us who you are and without revealing any information about yourself.
There are times, however, when we may request information from you such as your name, address or e-mail address, for example, if we hope to correspond with you.
Before collecting any personal details, OCC will advise you how the information will be used and you will always be given the option of declining to give personal information to us. Any information that you agree to give us will be protected by technical and organisational processes such as using encryption for credit card numbers to ensure your information is secure and accurate.
Privacy Technology
Technology will increasingly provide you with more control over your personal information and OCC actively supports the development of privacy technologies to help achieve these goals.
In this way, we can help to create greater trust and confidence in the way personal information is handled.
Anonymous Information Collection And Use
The OCC website does not capture or store personal information, but merely logs the user's IP address which is automatically recognised by the web server. This is used to record the number of visitors to our site.
When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered on the internet, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, your computer or mobile phone. These include small files known as cookies. They cannot be used to identify you personally.
These pieces of information are used to improve services for you through, for example:
- enabling a service to recognise your device so that you do not have to give the same information several times during one task
- recognising that you may already have given a username and password so that you do not need to do it for every web page requested
- measuring how many people are using services, so that they can be made easier to use and that there is enough capacity to ensure that they are fast
Our use of cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to help us accurately estimate the number of visitors to the website and volumes of usage. This to ensure that the service is available when you want it and fast.
