Search and Selection Database

OCC  designed and developed a highly successful and reliable Search and Selection database for a City-based recruitment firm. The database is  simple and quick to use during telephone operations in real-time situations. Information can be quickly added during a telephone call or later via a "scratch pad", a table with date-stamped memo fields.

Maximizing search parameters

The database system had to be structured to maximise possible search parameters, but be flexible enough to accommodate subsequent modifications and amendments. We designed a successful system which met these requirements and achieved the required goals. The system is characterised by its simplicity of use.

Efficient organising of data

The business depends on staff placing a person in a job quickly and efficiently. They need instant access to details of companies, prospective candidates and requirements of each and previous assignments. OCC designed the database with 4 main groupings of information: assignments, organisations, people and action taken.

The priority in the data structure design was to blend searchability with flexibility in the type and quantity of information for storage or retrieval. The information for each of the groupings is in a series of tables, whilst standardised entry of key data is provided in dictionaries. Extra information can be input on the "scratch pad". All these features have significantly reduced the amount of time staff spend on the telephone.

Friendly user interface

Key requirements for the user interface was user-friendliness and robustness. OCC's system is both. The user navigates the system intuitively to access information thanks to the integration of the multiple tables and relationships within the user interface. Information can be accessed by applying filters to a search, by person, an organization's name or record by record. Tabbed browsing allows easy switching between a person's job history, education, skills, etc.

Training required for this user-friendly and intuitive database designed by OCC is minimal. The system OCC designed and developed has been highly successful and reliable since its implementation for Jonathan Wren Search and Selection recruitment staff.
