Heart Foundation Health Monitoring
- Makes better use of medical experts by using flexible algorithms to identify available specialists
- Reduces costs of data management using Web Services to exchange data automatically between partner organizations
OCC built a well-structured database for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) providing easy and reliable access to the data which is fundamental to their work in matching people to tasks. The BHF drew on our expertise in building databases and providing solutions for the healthcare industry.
Database features
Key features of the Heartsave database are a reference library on all main topics related to secondary prevention of coronary heart disease (CHD) and a list of specialists in different heart disease-related fields.
The database contributes to two aspects of the BHF's post heart attack prevention work:
- maintains up-to-date details of all experts in a particular field with descriptions of their expertise
- has the ability to use free-text search techniques to search large and unstructured text and memo fields for particular medical terms or phrases.
Our work for the BHF Heartsave campaign forms part of their overall project for applying evidence for the secondary prevention of CHD.
