Oxford Computer Consultants are experts in Drupal - the largest open source content management system in the world. This offers free, mature well-supported software which meets our standards of original, robust and flexible IT.
OCC provided a web-based solution to the Open University's paper-based booklet "Becoming a Teacher" so that updates regarding qualifications for PGCE requirements could be input frequently and far less expensively. OCC solved the problem for the student with a series of screens to filter the table and be presented with the relevant information, and for the administrator to edit courses and their relationships on a real-time basis.
The Open University had an existing service which it provided to current students and alumni. The purpose of the service was to pair a user interested in a particular career path (a "seeker") with a person already active in that career (a "helper"). The main problem with this service was that it required a significant amount of user intervention, particularly in the manual matching of seekers to helpers, which was performed through exchange of e-mails.
OCC was chosen by the Open University to develop a database system utilizing web services technology because of our many year's experience in designing complex database systems. This training database matches different data types including students, courses, room and tutors.
