OCC was asked to design a new software system for Sencon UK which has proved highly successful in its field application.

The multi-threaded, MFC-based software is designed to control robots testing the quality and integrity of cans. The robots sample the cans as they are produced, carry out a variety of controls (such as of external paint, internal lacquering, etc.) and log the results on an Access database. From here, text reports showing results of all checks carried out can be generated for individual work orders.

A multiplicity of quality control test configurations are possible. A typical sample is of ten cans in every 5,000 but the robots are capable of taking samples as frequently, infrequently or randomly as the operator wishes.

The software features a user interface that is perfectly suited to its application. Given the positioning and small size of the screen, clarity was a priority in the design of the interface.

Having implemented the quality control software, OCC continued to provide Sencon with technical support, not only helping them with the day-to-day operation of the existing system, but also with the development of the improved software strategy to take the company forward.
